Family Counseling

Conflicts between family members can be complex and emotionally charged. Every person deserves to feel valued, understood and successful. Within families this is not something that happens to us at times, but rather something we make happen. Let us help your family identify and address the difficult issues that are standing in the way of the strong, loving relationships they deserve.

Individual Counseling

Learning to feel genuine appreciation for yourself without fear, doubt, or guilt allows you feel that sense of fulfillment. Often we put off taking care of ourselves for a multitude of reasons. Understanding the importance and necessity of self care, and then taking the time to treat ourselves well, allows us to see through the negativity we are often surrounded by to an exciting and optimistic future. Our therapist is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and a member of the International Association of Trauma Professionals. In addition she has completed trainings in the areas of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) - Insomina, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Anxiety, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT),  Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy and is a Certified Health Education Specialist.

Relationship Counseling/Infidelity Solutions

Discovering your spouse has been unfaithful turns your world upside down. There are many contributing factors; many have nothing to do with the state of the marriage. Infidelity is one of the major reasons couples seek counseling. Relationship therapy helps couples learn how to construct a deeper, more satisfying and resilient relationship despite the pain and betrayal that occurred. I am certified as a PREPARE/ENRICH facilitator which means I can administer this valid assessment  to measure and help improve your relationship’s strengths and growth areas. In addition our practice utlizes the Gottman Relationship Checkup for couples struggling with serious relationship issues.

Child/Play Therapy

Play therapy can be used on children as young as three. Play therapy is to children what counseling is to adults. Play therapy utilizes play, children's natural medium of expression, to help them express their feelings more easily through toys instead of words. Play therapy is a specialized area of practice and a way to relate to clients who are unable to verbalize their feelings. Because of this, therapy happens through play. It gets to the emotional functioning of children and that expression of emotion through play. Children don't have the cognitive ability like an adult does to say what's bothering them. Children can work on issues that are distressing to them, can play out issues and can talk about emotional trauma. If it's too hard to put into words, they can work on it with play. Our therapist has completed graduate level play therapy coursework to include:  Expressive Arts with Children and Adolescents, Application of Play Therapy in Mental Health Services, Introduction to Play Therapy and completed a supervised practicum in play therapy. In addition she has completed CEU's in the areas of sandtray and art therapy services.
